Human Papilomavirs, or HPV, induced Oropharynx Cancer (tonsil and base of tongue) is the fastest growing cancer in the United States. By 2020 it will be more common than cervical cancer in women. All males and females from 9 years to 26 years of age should receive the HPV vaccination.

On July 20, 2017, Dr. Thomas Dobleman presented on HPV and head and neck cancers at a research breakfast held at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public Health in Omaha. The breakfast was sponosored by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network of Nebraska in order to help educate and increase awareness of this rapidly growing subset of cancer.
