Chemical Cautery for Sinus Problems
When managing chronic nasal and sinus problems with medications which are no longer working, or not an option, chemical cautery may be the answer you are looking for. Chemical cautery is a painless, in-office treatment for a wide variety of nasal and sinus problems, including nasal congestion, post nasal drip, and chronic runny nose. Chemical cautery can be used as a first line treatment, but can take the place, and sometimes eliminate the need for medications such as antihistamines, decongestants and nasal sprays.
How DOES the treatment WORK?
Chemical cautery involves a series of sprays of medication to the nasal airways. After the first treatment is given, the patient returns for another spray approximately a month after the first spray. This is repeated monthly for 3 months. The actual treatment time takes about 5 minutes. Over time, the effect of the cautery may wear off, so booster treatments can be given as needed every few months.
