Snoring
Snoring can be disruptive to you and your family’s sleep. It may be just “simple snoring”, but snoring may also be the sign of something more serious called sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a chronic condition characterized by loud, frequent snoring and pauses in breathing, or shallow breaths during sleep.Snoring is the result of tissues in the throat relaxing enough that they partially block the airway and vibrate. Depending on a person’s anatomy and other factors such as body weight, or alcohol consumption, snoring maybe louder or softer. If you or your partner is a frequent loud snorer, gasps or chokes during sleep, stops breathing, experience excessive restlessness and continually feels sleepy during the day, make an appointment with Dr. Dobleman to take the first step to get tested to determine if you need treatment for sleep apnea.
If it’s simple snoring, there’s in-office procedure that can be done to alleviate snoring issues. It’s quick and performed under local anesthesia. |
